Adrina Garbooshian-Huggins, Cancer Survivor April 29, 2024

“I had anxiety at every stage, not knowing what the outcome might be” says Adrina Garbooshian-Huggins, 49, of Charlottesville. Adrina had surgery and radiation treatment for breast cancer at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.

“The nurses and clinicians were so understanding and caring. They made me feel seen and appreciated as a person, not just a patient.”

After her treatment, Adrina made a gift of gratitude to Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital to say thank you for her care. “I wanted my team to know how much their kindness mattered to me.”

Your generosity has helped Sentara Martha Jefferson earn the gold standard in nursing excellence, Magnet designation, for 16 years running. Fewer than 5 percent of hospitals nationally achieve that distinction. We consistently outperform more than 85% of hospitals nationwide in ratings of patient experience—as reported by the patients themselves. Our nurse leaders are driving a culture of innovation and excellence at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital that resonates throughout our region.

“We are very lucky to have a hospital like Sentara Martha Jefferson in this community,” says Adrina. “The people there really care, and they treat everyone with empathy and compassion.”
