To reach the migrant farm worker community with vital preventive health screenings and access to care, in 2023 Sentara Cares partnered with the Central Virginia Farm Workers Initiative. Grant funding enabled the Central Virginia Farm Workers Initiative to provide onsite diabetes and high-blood pressure screenings, and to be a liaison for migrant workers with health resources in our community. The partnership is helping Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital reach this hard-working community access healthcare in a way that is affordable, approachable and effective.
