The Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation would like to give special thanks to Mr. Alan Y. Roberts for his generous gift to the Haden Nursing Institute of Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. Mr. Roberts made a leadership gift in memory of his wife Sally G. Roberts in recognition of the outstanding care she received at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.

“The nursing care that Sally received was top rate and exemplified the Martha Jefferson Caring Tradition for which this hospital is known. My hope is that this gift will make a difference in the lives of Martha Jefferson’s nurses, helping them achieve their professional dreams while caring for our community,” shared Mr. Roberts.

Gifts to the Haden Nursing Institute support local nurses at Sentara Martha Jefferson and 100% of every gift stays here in this community. Philanthropic support provides educational scholarship and professional development opportunities, helps accelerate the purchase of new or replacement equipment, funds staff recognition programs and awards, and many other small and large programs in support of nursing excellence. Sentara Martha Jefferson Nursing is recognized as a MAGNET Nursing Excellence program, the highest recognition any hospital can receive. With thanks for Mr. Roberts’ generosity, the lobby in the Phillips Cancer Center has been commemorated in honor of Alan Y. and Sally G. Roberts with gratitude for their support.
