Our healing environment is enriched by our talented volunteers.
Pet Therapy - Dogs certified in a nationally recognized pet therapy program round on our patients and staff to bring smiles, happiness and the comforting presence of an adorable and friendly well trained pet therapy animal. The human member of the team goes through the SMJH volunteer onboarding process.
Music Volunteer - Provides soothing and uplifting music in the main lobby of the hospital. The hospital has a beautiful grand piano to play and also welcomes other sooth sounding instruments. Those at a performance level will meet with the coordinator to demonstrate a sampling of music prior to consideration of volunteer opportunity.
Caring Embrace knitters - Whether you knit or crochet you are welcome to join our knitting group to make shawls made with care and love to be given to our patients that could use a warm hug. You can join the group in the hospital on Wednesdays 2-4pm or knit at home.
Art Committee - The hospital has a collection of donated and local art pieces all through the hospital and Pantops campus which supports the healing environement.
