All gifts will be matched by Perry, doubling your impact. 100% of your support stays local to ensure that cutting-edge care is there for all of us when we need it most.
What's a nuclear medicine camera?
This cutting-edge imagining device allows for earlier detection and treatment of diseases. It detects and visualizes radioactive tracers within the body, providing doctors with detailed, dynamic images used to show how organs and tissues are functioning.
In cancer treatment, nuclear imaging can show tumors, determine whether cancer has spread and how well a treatment is working, and detect a cancer recurrence. It can also play a vital role in cancer treatment by combining radioactive agents with chemotherapy drugs to precisely target and destroy cancer cells.
Sentara Martha Jefferson already has one nuclear medicine camera. Community support will accelerate the purchase of a second camera, to improve access to this powerful technology and speed life-saving care to patients when it matters most.
