2024 Spring Fly Fling

Providing Hope and Support for Women Cancer Survivors

St. Patrick's Day weekend provided a festive backdrop for the 16th Annual Spring Fly Fling, a free, five-star weekend retreat to help women cancer survivors heal through the power of friendship, community, good food--and trout fishing! The expert anglers of the local Thomas Jefferson Trout Unlimited Chapters made sure that all eight women on this year's retreat caught at least one trout on the fly--one participant discovered a new passion and caught 12! Other highlights included kayaking, massage, gourmet meals, guided nature walks, and plenty of unstructured relaxation time.  

More than 40 volunteers and retreat alumni turned out to support the women, creating a warm community of people who truly understand the cancer journey from the inside. Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital supports the event, which is organized by Therapeutic Adventures and Thomas Jefferson Trout Unlimited.
